Introduction

Built in the style of a stately Edwardian manor house and featuring a light and airy atmosphere, Sasakwa offers panoramic views, a sense of immense freedom, and stillness. Striking the perfect balance between casual luxury and sophisticated elegance, the lodge features a grand entrance, wraparound verandas, silver candelabras and coveted antiques, as well as bespoke décor elements such as local artefacts and tribal cushions.

Offering expansive en-suite bathrooms, dressing areas, fireplaces, living rooms and French doors opening onto welcoming verandas, the elegant cottages feature polished parquet floors, vintage collectables and comfortable furnishings – and provide guests with complete privacy, as well as unfiltered space and time to connect with the breathtaking surrounds.

Accommodation

The lodge caters for around 32 guests in selection of one, two, three and four bedroomed cottages and one Hillside Suite. Each has en suite facilities (including a bath and shower) private garden and plunge pool, air-conditioning, a separate lounge and the most wonderful views. The two, three and four bedroom cottages have one master bedroom and the further bedrooms are slightly smaller, but all en suite. The four bedroomed cottage has the addition of a private dining room and small kitchen. The two storey Hillside Suite has a sitting room, outdoor dining space and terrace on the first floor, with en suite bedroom, extensive outdoor relaxation space and private rim-flow pool on the lower floor. The Hillside Suite also comes with butler service and a private vehicle and guide for maximum exclusivity and flexibility.

Dining Experience

Every meal at Singita Sasakwa is an event: from the early breakfast table groaning with fresh pastries, breads and fluffy crepes, piled with luscious fruits and other temptations, to the refined elegance of candlelit dinners either in dining room warmed by a log fire or out under the stars. Served on starched white linens with crystal glasses glinting in the firelight, this must be one of the most romantic places on earth to indulge in world-class cuisine.

Safari Experience

Sasakwa provides guests with a front-row seat to the prolific wildlife in the 350,000-acre Singita Grumeti Reserve in the Serengeti. The experience makes for an unparalleled East African safari, complete with leisure activities that include bush walks, soothing wellness treatments and tennis.

Game viewing activities are undertaken in open four wheel drive vehicles and include both day and night game drives. Nature walks are also available. Hot air ballooning is available at an extra cost (ballooning must be arranged in advance to be guaranteed). For guests interested in learning more about the work of the Singta Grumeti Fund’s conservation work, there is the opportunity to visit an observation post and meet a game scout (note this involves a steep walk up a dirt path to reach the post). Community project visits can also be arranged at extra cost.
